The Gardens.

Blackmore Grange.

An all-year round 2 acre rural, informal garden surrounds the family home and is packed with a large variety of plants, shrubs and trees. The swimming pool has been transformed into the stable-yard garden, an area of traditional cottage-style planting. There is also a woodland walk, wild area, orchard, kitchen garden and mixed borders.

Meadowbank.

Meadowbank is a modern interpretation of a traditional cottage garden. The garden is fairly new as it is only 8 years old. The usual cottage garden plants are supported by two fine stipa gigantea and bamboos. The soil is heavy clay so several plants are grown in pots including a collection of irises and auriculas. The garden faces south and borders pastureland featuring several fine oaks.

The Paddocks.

A garden started from scratch, which has had to accommodate two boisterous Labradors, and visiting wildlife. An amateur gardener who has developed a passion for succulents and tries to accommodate this into the garden, featuring a variety of specimens displayed in pots and containers for the season. The greenhouse is filled with unusual specimens of echeverias, aeoniums and cacti. Two small ponds and a rill offers a focal point in the garden, which also provides a habitat for frogs and newts.  Trees and shrubs encourage nesting birds and mixed borders provide colour and interest. Given that the owner works full time, the plants have to earn their keep, based on as little maintenance as possible. Many mistakes are made, but a great pleasure to enjoy all the same!
